Summer Without You
Joanne Taylor

The porch swing
Creaks at half-past nine
I watch the fireflies in line
Last year
Your hand was holding mine
But now I sit alone in June
The radio plays that old love song
The one we slow danced to so long
I hum along
But something's wrong
The melody just makes me blue
Summer without you
Is quiet and cold
Even the sunshine
Feels lonely and old
No walks on the boardwalk
No kiss in the rain
Summer without you
Just isn't the same
The ocean breeze still smells like home
But now I wander here alone
Each wave reminds me you're not near
And dries my every happy tear
Summer without you
Is quiet and cold
Even the sunshine
Feels lonely and old
No walks on the boardwalk
No kiss in the rain
Summer without you
Just isn't the same
The stars still shine
But not as bright
Since you said goodbye
That summer night
Summer without you
Just drifts like a dream
A love song fading
From a record machine
No more sweet laughter
Just echoes remain
Summer without you
Still calling your name
